Doctors decry online rating website

December 5, 2006

This is what the future holds for every professional

website that lets patients rate their doctors, including about 3,000 doctors in Canada, has been earning mixed reviews, depending on who’s receiving the diagnosis.

It’s clear that RateMDs.com’s rising popularity in Canada comes much to the chagrin of those like Dr. Anthony Lockwood, a Winnipeg cosmetic surgeon who received a “negative” overall quality rating of two out of five, based on only two reviews.

Waiters and diners lay their complaints

December 5, 2006

Denver waiters are lazy, greedy incompetents who insult customers, expect big tips and work in restaurants because they aren’t qualified to do anything else. Denver diners are boorish, stupid slobs who treat waiters like dirt, demand total attention and then leave a few pennies on the table. Honest, that’s what some diners and waiters told us when we recently asked what irritated them the most about each other. Many of the remarks e-mailed to us from diners and waiters were pointed – some were unsuitable for a family newspaper. It’s not just us versus them: We received a significant number of pet peeves from waiters about other servers and diners about fellow eaters.

Denver-based restaurant chains coax consumers with video contests

Good Times’ version is the “My-Beef’s- All-Natural Product Placement Film Festival.” Consumers have been asked to use a life-size cardboard Good Times mascot in their video clips, which are posted on the burger chain’s website.

The contest has generated about 30 videos since mid-October. Consumers have picked up more than 2,000 of the free “Mr. All-Natural- Beef-Man” cutouts from Good Times’ 50 outlets in Colorado, North Dakota, Idaho and Wyoming.

The Golden-based company says its goal is to generate more late-night traffic from the age group known as millennials.

“We wanted to get them to participate more in the brand and to connect with them in an emotional way,” said Boyd Hoback, president and chief executive of Good Times. “This group likes to see themselves involved in the things they use.”
